Planning & Development

Council has worked with SARM Planning Services to create a comprehensive Official Community Plan and Zoning Bylaw for the Municipality. The bylaws were adopted by RM Council on February 12, 2019 and approved by Community Planning Branch on June 12, 2019.

Official Community Plan (OCP)

The OCP contains broad objectives for development and growth which provides a comprehensive policy framework to guide physical, environmental, economic, social and cultural development within all or any part of the municipality.

Zoning Bylaw

The OCP is implemented through the Zoning Bylaw.  The Zoning Bylaw permits Council to set local standards for specific zoning districts and provide regulation for the subdivision and use of land, and helps manage the delivery of municipal services and resources to new development.

How do I know if I need a development permit?

Check the ZB or reach out to the RM to see if your proposed development will require a permit before you begin your project. Section 2.5 of the ZB outlines the types of development that are exempt from requiring a permit, but shall meet the requirements of the Zoning Bylaw.
